Are you looking for a show that takes you to another world and helps you forget all your anxiety and stress? If so, your best option is DC’s new web series, Stargirl. The show, which is executive produced by Geoff Johns, is the solution to your TV indecision whether you’ve watched every film and read every comic or you’ve never seen a DC movie before.

What’s the Plot?

Stargirl‘s pilot, which came out on May 18, 2020, begins 10 years before the rest of the series’ events. The Injustice Society of America discovers the Justice Society of America’s base during the holiday season, leading to the JSA’s destruction. One of the few people to avoid the attack is Stripesy, also known as Pat Dugan. When he returns to the carnage at the JSA headquarters, his friend Starman is almost dead. Before passing, Starman gives Pat the Cosmic Staff, to be kept safe until someone is ready to take Starman’s place.

The series then jumps 10 years to when Pat Dugan has married Barbara Whitmore, who has a high schooler named Courtney. Together with Pat’s son Mike, they move to Blue Valley and try to adjust to their new lives. Courtney’s first day at school is not a success; she meets lots of bullies, including a few who become her enemies as the show progresses. However, she finds a way to get back at one of her worst classmates when she discovers the Cosmic Staff in her basement. By choosing to use it, Courtney becomes Starman’s heir, but she finds that she’s not quite ready to be Stargirl.

The rest of the show follows Courtney’s journey towards reuniting the JSA and finding new members to step into former heroes’ shoes. Most episodes feature flashbacks, which provide backstory to the side characters and flesh out Courtney’s world.

Who’s Involved?

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger in the title role. Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, and Trae Romano play her family members, and Anjelika Washington and Yvette Monreal play her friends at school. The supporting cast includes familiar names and new faces:
