Places like Google have introduced this idea of turning the office into as much of a casual space as anything else. Now, making your employees comfortable is great but it’s not necessarily best for them or your business to focus solely on that. The truth is that your employees want to be treated well, and paid fairly for their work. Don’t let a desire to look like a “modern” business cause you to lose sight of that.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that you should suddenly throw away everything that makes your business modern or all of the lessons of the modern world in order to return to a more traditional idea of your business. The reality is that it’s about creating the right balance between keeping up with the changes in the modern world without forgetting the valuable lessons of the past.
